A cluster appears on the network as a single local group presented to hosts and administrators by virtual IP addresses. Use the SCOOBY plugin to discover the storage system cluster, manage the storage volumes in a cluster environment, and view the status of the storage appliance. You can also monitor the real-time error and alert messages for any event that may occur while performing various operations.

Prerequisites

• Tomcat Web Server 7.0 or higher
• Ubuntu appliance (FDVA 5981) 12.04 LTS or higher
• Java JDK 7
• VMware ESXi Server and vSphere 5.5 or higher

Install the plugin

You can install the plugin using the Debian package or import the Fast Deploy Virtual Appliance (FDVA) Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) template.

OVA Template

The OVA template contains the Debian package already configured and ready to install.

1. Create a virtual machine by deploying the FDVA OVA template.
2. Power on the virtual machine.
3. Proceed to the Registration section.

Debian

1. From the FDVA virtual machine, sign into the ESX host.
2. Increase the FDVA memory capacity to 8GB.
   1. Shut down the FDVA for Debian package installation.
   2. Edit the virtual machine's settings to increase memory.
   3. Start the FDVA.
3. On the FDVA, log in as root to install openjdk-7-jdk and tomcat7.

   apt-get update
   apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk
   apt-get install tomcat7 

4. Enable the Tomcat SSL setting.
   1. Copy the .keystore file available in the release-package folder to:

      CATALINA_BASE/
      The default location is /var/lib/tomcat7. Use the ls -a command to check the availability or to verify the presence of the .keystore file.
   2. Add the following to the server.xml file, under the Service name="Catalina" tag. You can find the server.xml file in CATALINA_BASE/conf/.

      keystoreFile=".keystore" keystorePass="calsoft123"

5. On the FDVA, log in as root, edit the /etc/environment, and add the following:

   JAVE_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64"
   CATALINA_BASE="/var/lib/tomcat7"
   CATALINA_BASE="/usr/share/tomcat7" 

6. Deploy Tomcat on the Ubuntu client as a service.
7. Run dpkg -i <path-to-dieb-package-file>.deb.
8. Proceed to the Registration section.
